The author, an alumnus of Brandeis University, tells of his meetings with a former professor suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease and of the lessons he learned about life and death from his college mentor. Personal note: This book will change the way you think about life.

  • "All I've done is give you the book. You have to have the courage to learn what's inside it."
~Miss Freida Joy Riley, from Rocket Boys
  • “You see, I don't believe that libraries should be drab places where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians.” ~Monty Python
  • If you don't know what's important,
Then Everything is Important.
If Everything is Important,
Then you try to do everything.

If you try to do everything,
Then everyone will expect you to do everything.

And in trying to please everyone,
You won't have enough time to find out what's important.
